Head of Investment Strategy & Markets | Climate

Location Flexible: London, UK or New York, NY

Nephila has been in the business of providing access to non-correlated exposure in the catastrophe and climate reinsurance markets for over 20 years, creating innovative solutions to address risk transfer challenges that face the markets and generate a valuable return stream for our investors.  With a consistent capital base of $10B, Nephila continuously looks for new opportunities, including a specific climate risk strategy in 2005 that now has a very strong track record.  Today, as Climate change and sustainability become an increasing focus in the markets, there is a lack of agile and innovative ESG focused solutions.  The Nephila Climate team is well positioned and supported to take advantage of the emerging gap by creating investment opportunities that deliver an ESG positive investment.

Nephila, over the years, has developed a deep platform that has scale and access to a large investible universe.  Nephila also has had a longstanding ESG commitment within the existing businesses.  The Climate team will continue to leverage this broader platform to set the market standard for developing, structuring and transferring Climate Risk to a diversified capital base. Our unique offering to counterparties and risk partners is a consultative approach that gives them access to scalable capital and more creative, flexible structures than the traditional market, that ultimately match their needs.  Critical to our future success is, ensuring that as we grow and further diversify our capital base the overall investment strategy continues to evolve, our origination process and relationships continue to broaden our access to unique opportunities, and our early deal flow assessment process is agile, innovative and considers possibilities.

The Head of Investment Strategy & Markets role is envisioned as a key leader within the Climate team, working closely with the CEO in continual refinement of the overall Climate team strategy and plan; ensuring Investment Strategy alignment.  Specifically, this individual will manage a small team of investment professionals, but will also be expected to help shape and influence the team to think creatively about market solutions.  The ideal candidate will accomplish this through effective communication of their ideas, development of a clear strategy and a process to assess risks; helping to improve overall quality of opportunities, investment decision making and ultimately results.
